ItemRules View

This view is used to list the rules associated with a particuler item. This is done by linking the ItemRules View to the Selected item (element or attribute) within the Structure View. The example below shows an item selected in the Structure View - llu:MPFTieCableId and its associated rules within the ItemRules View

The context menu for the view is very simple:

  • Edit Rule - opens the rule editor wizard.
  • Delete Rule - removes the rule from the template.

The view has 5 columns, they are:

  1. Category - shows if the rule is part of the default rules set or based upon a define conditional context. Values CONDITIONAL or DEFAULT. If the small icon is decoreated with the annotation symbol the rule has a text based annotation defined.
  2. Action - this is the CAM action that will be performed or checked should this rule fire.
  3. Item - this is the xpath defined when the rule was created and it will point to the item selected in the Structure View. A rule may apply to many items if the xpath is defined in such a way as to point to more than one item.
  4. Condition - sometimes rules are only applied when a particular situation applies. This is subtly different to the context mechanism that groups rules together based upon a conditional statement. These conditions only apply to the individual rules. Not all rules will have conditions.
  5. In Context - if the rule has been created under an existing context the condition of that context will be shown in this column.

Selecting a rule in this view will cause it to be highlighted within the rules view. This can enable the user to see where it exist in any context hierarchy.
