Reader transforms NoteCards colored card editing interface into a full screen text editor like TextEdit.
Reader contains numerous panes and various controls which will be explained below.
- Card pane. On the top of the window the card pane shows all cards currently being opened in Reader including a preview of each card. The pane can be adjusted by positioning the mouse at the bottom of the pane until the cursor changes then dragging. You can also optionally hide the card pane by using the toggle button above the editing area.
- Card popup. The card popup menu contains a list of all cards available in Reader with corresponding command keys for the first 10. If you have hidden the card pane you can still navigate cards using this menu.
- Text formatting controls. Reader contains various controls for formatting text like other text editors such as TextEdit. Please note that plain text cards will disable these controls (and their corresponding menu items in the Format menu). You can change a plain text card to rich text while in Reader by using the Make Rich Text item in the Format menu after you have selected the card you want to convert.
- Editing area. In reader all editing is done on the main pane over a white background. For plain text cards all text is black for easy reading, however rich text cards always follow their own styles which may mean light or even white text which is hard to reader over the white background.
- Page pane. On the right side of the window is a pane which displays all the pages in the currently selected card. You can easily edit and read pages in Reader without needing to use the normal controls for navigating pages found in cards. The page pane can be adjusted or hidden using the same method as the card pane.
Please note for plain text cards you can choose a base font for Reader in the preferences.
All types of cards in NoteCard can be opened in Reader including every card in the sheet.
To open normal cards, cards which contain tabs or Stacks the method is the same: select the card then use the Open in Reader command in the Card menu. Depending on the kind of card all the related cards will be opened in Reader.
To open all cards in the sheet use the Open Cards in Reader command in the Sheet menu. This is a great way to browser all the cards in a clutter-free environment.
